DESIGNER
Tyler Gehrels
As a designer at Field Studio, Tyler introduces a devotion to highlight the unmatched character of the natural wilderness through designs that are ecologically proactive, yet still allow users to vividly experience the greatness of those landscapes. He also holds an interest in the conservation, preservation, and restoration of native lands. Past experiences in landscape construction and an urban design internship strengthened his skillset in conceptual design and understanding of design assembly.
Tyler’s journey began in the Midwest, as he grew up in Iowa and stayed local to pursue his interest in all things design at Iowa State University. An enthusiasm for the great outdoors, combined with a knack for creativity, led to his intrigue with landscape architecture. After five quick years in the accredited program, Tyler obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 2025. He looked to expand his horizons shortly thereafter and took a jaunt across the Great Plains to join the Field Studio team in Bozeman.
Much of Tyler’s childhood was spent outdoors—whether in the water at Lake Okoboji, on family road trips out west, playing sports, or just getting his hands dirty in the backyard. He’s continued this appreciation for nature through extensive travel, broadening his experience of diverse landscapes across the planet. During university, he spent a semester abroad studying in Dunedin, New Zealand, where his time was filled with hiking, camping, and endless adventure. That experience among beautiful, rugged terrain paved the way for a desire to look west toward the Rockies to start his career.
When not in the office, Tyler can often be found shooting hoops, hiking, biking, golfing, or enjoying a Denver Nuggets game. He’ll spend much time to come exploring the Greater Bozeman area and learning his favorite parts of living in Montana.
